Investigator's Story Questioned

An investigator testifying in the trial of her supervisor who's charged with evidence tampering says she spent six hours scrutinizing a car linked to two murder suspects but found no blood evidence tying them to the crime. Douglas County investigator Christine Gabig (GAY-big) took the stand Wednesday in the trial of David Kofoed (KOH-FOHD). Prosecutors argue Kofoed planted a speck of a victim's blood in a car linked to the two men who were wrongly charged for the two shotgun slayings in 2006. Gabig says she swabbed 40 to 50 areas on and in the car. A week later, Kofoed searched and he said he found traces of one victim's blood. Kofoed's attorney says cross-contamination explains how the blood ended up in the car.
