Flood, Fog Warnings Issued

Spring seems to be busting out all over.  Emergency Management Officials hope it doesn't bust out too quickly.  Rivers throughout eastern, Central, and Southwest Nebraska are mostly full to overflowing already, with more rain forecast.  Flood advisories are out for the Platte, Elkhorn, Loup, and Big Blue Basins including all tributaries.  Melting snow, new rainfall, and ice jams are all making for a suspenseful week.

On the Elkhorn River, ice jams are causing lowland flooding as far northwest as O'Neill.  On the Loup, the ice jams start about six miles west of Columbus.  The Platte is filling fast as rains in Southwest Nebraska combine with the increase in Rocky Mountain snowmelt from Colorado and Wyoming.

A flood warning is also in effect for the Big Blue River in Saline County, where mostly lowland flooding has been occuring.
