Cathy BlytheBio
Cathy Blythe was born and raised in Lincoln and is a 1967 graduate of Lincoln Southeast. She attended Kearney State College (now University of Nebraska at Kearney) and was focused on becoming an elementary education teacher. She then took what turned out to be a permanent detour into the world of radio when she was hired at KFOR as receptionist in 1972.
Cathy has been co-host of the KFOR Morning Show since 1982. She has also been the host of Problems & Solutions since 1992. Cathy has received two Marconi awards, first in 2002 by herself and then in 2005 with her morning show co-host at that time, Ward Jacobson. The Marconi is considered to be the highest award in broadcasting.
Cathy was inducted into the Nebraska Broadcasters Hall of Fame in August of 2011 and was also selected as a Distinguished Alumni of Lincoln Southeast High School.
She has been married to her husband Wayne since 1985. Many listeners remember when daughter Molly was born early in Cathy's radio career. She is now grown, married, and lives with her husband Jordan in Fargo, North Dakota. He is a software engineer with Microsoft and Molly has her own freelance marketing business. Cathy's spare time is spent reading, playing piano and speaking, emceeing and entertaining for a variety of area events, civic organizations, senior centers and retirement communities.
