LINCOLN -- A 30-year-old man has pleaded not guilty after being found competent to stand trial in a Lincoln murder. LaRon Branch made his pleas Friday in Lancaster County District Court. He's charged with second-degree murder and use of a deadly weapon. In May a judge had ordered Branch to undergo a psychiatric evaluation to see whether he is fit to stand trial in the slaying of Jarvis Long. Long was stabbed to death on Jan. 16 in Lincoln's Peter Pan Park.
