Department of Corrections Suspends Employees Involved In Miscalculating Inmate Sentences
LINCOLN -- The director of the Nebraska Department of Corrections is taking action against employees involved in purposely miscalculating sentences of hundreds of prisoners, resulting in early releases. Mike Kenney has suspended a number of employees pending completion of the disciplinary process. Plus, Kenney is taking disciplinary actions against other employees who played a role in the sentencing miscalculations. Kenney has also directed an internal systems review of the Records Department’s operations and requested an independent review team from the National Institute of Corrections study records operation to ensure practices are uniform and consistent.
