PHOENIX -- Lincoln native Alex Gordon has reached the 1,000th hit mark of his Major League Baseball career. The Kansas City Royals outfielder and former Nebraska star hit a single to left field in the fifth inning Wednesday night against Arizona to reach the mark. Gordon, a former Lincoln Southeast star, picked up another hit for 1,001 hits in his career, as the Royals beat the Diamondbacks 12-2. Billy Butler and Salvador Perez each had three-run homers and Nori Aoki hit a grand slam for KC.
