Fifth Northeast Lincoln Break-in in 24 Hours

(7-31-14) Burglars have struck another northeast Lincoln business--the fifth reported in the 24 hours.

Officer Katie Flood says LPD discovered the burglary at Heartland Scuba after a witness reported seeing someone dumping a cash register into a trash can in Bethany Park around 130a.m., Thursday morning.

During their investigation, officers found papers in the register from Heartland Scuba at Cotner & Leighton, and then confirmed that burglars had gained access to the building by breaking in the front door with a cement block. They took the register, along with a computer and some scuba gear.  The total loss is over $9,000.

Burglaries were reported Wednesday morning at Ming's Palace, A-1 Linoleum, Cook's Cafe and Salon Monet, all in the Bethany neighborhood. Flood says police believe the crimes may be related because they are located in the same area, and burglars used rocks or cement blocks to gain entry.
