New Bill to Expand Veterans Medical Services

(7-30-14) Veterans Administration medical facilities will expand in Lincoln and two dozen other cities if Congress passes the current compromise bill on fixing the VA.

Nebraska Senator Deb Fischer on Wednesday threw her support behind the bill worked out between the House and Senate Veterans affairs committees. She said the plan would fund the hiring of doctors and nurses and 27 sites across the country including an outpatient clinic in Lincoln.

Fischer told Nebraska reporters today she also supports provisions of the bill that give the Secretary of the Veterans Administration greater authority to make high level personnel changes, and provides veterans a card for medical care at participating clinics when they're more than 40 miles from a VA facility.
