Husker Foregoes Senior Year to Join Minnesota Twins
The Nebraska baseball team's second baseman, Pat Kelly, has announced that he will forego his senior season and sign a contract with the Minnesota Twins. Kelly was selected last Saturday in the 12th round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft. He will first report to camp in Fort Myers, Fla., and then will likely be assigned to Elizabethton, Tenn. A three-time All-Big Ten performer and two-time first-team selection, Kelly has led the Huskers in hits each of the past two seasons. He ends his three-year career with212 career hits and a career .319 hitter. Kelly started Nebraska’s last 135 games and posted a .990 fielding percentage in 2014, committing only three errors during the season.
