Highlands Fire Destroys Garage

(5-29-14) A fire in Lincoln's Highlands neighborhood has destroyed the garage of a home, but did not significantly spread to the rest of the house. Lincoln Fire and Rescue got the call from the homeowner, who was home at the time, around 11:30 a.m., on Thursday. At 2:00 p.m., the fire inspector had not yet concluded what exactly caused the fire, but it did start in the garage of the home at 415 West Carrine Drive. The fire spread throughout the garage, demolishing the entire back wall and ruining the van parked inside. The fire morphed a trash can and other surrounding items. Battalion Chief Brad Thavenet said the radiating heat did spread to the neighbor's wall, but only damaged the exterior siding. Chief Thavenet said that after the mess and smell of the fire is removed, the homeowners will be able to live in the home again.
