The Social Security Administration announced today the most popular baby names for 2013. Noah was the number one name for baby boys. Jacob was the number one name for 14 years prior. The most popular name for girls in 2013 was Sophia again for the third year. After Sophia, the most popular girl names were Emma, Olivia, Isabella and Ava. After Noah, the names Liam, Jacob, Mason and William were most used. But baby names are not used in the same bulk as they used to be. 86,000 babies were named James in 1950 when that was the number one boy name. Last year, 18,000 babies were named Noah. About 21,000 newborns were named Sophia last year. In 1950, more than 80,000 were named Linda.
