(4-25-14) Officials still do not know the cause of a fire that destroyed a vacant house at 23rd and Vine Thursday night. Battalion Chief, Eric Jones, told KFOR NEWS at the scene that crews couldn't find the source of the fire, so they handled it as a controlled burn. The house at 2430 Vine Street had been red tagged, meaning it had been vacant for awhile and all utilities were shut off. Chief Jones said part of the challenge was the junk that filled the house. "You can imagine how difficult it can be going into a house and not being able to see, and to add to it, not being able to move around because there's so much stuff," said Chief Jones. Firefighters are still monitoring the charred remains of a vacant house near 23rd and Vine Streets. Damage amounts to the house are estimated at $57,000.
