Neb. Busts of Colo. Pot Lead to Frustrating Expenses
When someone is busted in Nebraska for having marijuana that's legal in Colorado, that Nebraska law enforcement agency pays for the cost of jailing and prosecuting people caught. The World-Herald reports western Nebraska agencies are getting busier and busier because of cases involving Colorado pot. Deuel County Sheriff, Adam Hayward, says frustration is leading to talk of having Colorado shouldering some of the cost, but Sheriff Hayward says political leaders in Lincoln don't appear to want to get involved. Marijuana use is legal in Colorado, but it remains an illicit in all seven states that border Colorado.
