LPD Carefully Uses Twitter to Communicate with Public
The Lincoln Police Department is now using Twitter to communicate with the public. Capt. Martin Fehringer tweets to follow up on crimes, interact with citizens and acknowledge good police work. Fehringer tweet out photos of criminals and criminal trends. For example, one of his first posts was pictures of a vehicle believed to be involved in a recent arson. City Public Safety Director, Tom Casady, doesn't want followers tweeting police sensitive information. Instead, use Crimestoppers so it can be put in an official report. Casady and Capt. Fehringer agree Twitter is just one more tool for connected with the public.
