Bill Funding Tax Relief, Water Projects, State Parks Advances First Round in Legislature

New funding for property tax relief, water projects and state park renovations has cleared a key vote in the Legislature.  The state budget bill advancing from first-round approval includes a $25 million annual increase in Nebraska's property tax credit program, $17.5 million for deferred park maintenance and $32 million for water projects by the middle of next year. Papillion Senator, Bill Kintner, wanted to vote on each item separately instead of voting on the whole bill. This caused quite a stir on the legislative floor which will likely be kindled again when the bill comes back for further debate.
