Beutler May Look Into Raising City Sales Tax

Mayor Beutler may ask you to increase the city sales tax rate during the November general election.  The on-line news service, Nebraska Watchdog, reports the mayor's chief-of-staff, Rick Hoppe says the Beutler administration is thinking about asking the City Council for a November vote as a way to lower the property or wheel tax rates in Lincoln.  A 1/2 cent increase in the sales tax rate could generate $20 million a year.
