HS FOOTBALL: Christian's Offense Overpowers Milford

LINCOLN -- Lincoln Christian provided lots of tricks and no treats for Milford-Dorchester on Halloween night.  The Crusaders opened up the game on a 3-play drive capped on a 60-yard touchdown run from quarterback Logan Power enroute to a 48-21 victory over the Eagles Thursday night at Seacrest Field.  With the win, Christian (8-1) will host Falls City, who beat Wayne 28-27 Thursday afternoon, next Wednesday at 7pm at Seacrest Field.  A week ago, Christian beat the Tigers 49-28 at Beechner Field.

The Crusader offense didn't let up in the first quarter.  Jared Bubak scored on a 18-yard reception with 3:14 remaining for a 14-0 Christian lead.  Then running back Ben Plambeck scored from 9-yards out before Leighton Chicoine scooped up a Milford fumble and ran it back 57-yards for a touchdown and a 27-0 lead.

Christian got two more touchdowns in the early part of the third quarter, when Noah Free caught a 7-yard toss from Power and running back Tanner Schwaninger's power run ended in a 39-yard score.  The game was put away late in the third quarter when Bubak ran for a 61-yard touchdown.

Despite Daniel Mitchell's 32-yard touchdown catch just before halftime, Milford could not recover.  The Eagles managed to score twice in the second half, one on a 9-yard run from running back Andrew Hauder in the third quarter and a three-yard dash from Hauder late in the game.

Milford had 370 yards of total offense, to Christian's 473 (322 on the ground).
