Proposed Rate Increase Scheduled For Public Hearing
LINCOLN -- You may see another rate increase on your electric bill soon. Lincoln City Council members will vote November 25th on the proposed $258-million Lincoln Electric System operating budget. It's a 3% increase compared to this year and your home electric bill would go up an extra $2.41. On KFOR's Coby Mach Show Tuesday, LES spokesperson Laura Kapustka said they always review ways to help reduce expenses when they look at putting together a budget. Rates have gone up 42% in the past 10 years and 10 years prior, rates only went up 8%. Kapustka says these types of rate increases are fairly common among other utilities. The public hearing on the LES budget will be before the City Council next Monday.
