HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Bearcats Hit Second Half Stride, Hold Off Silver Hawks

LINCOLN -- The Kearney Bearcats had more than 320 yards in offense and picked up second half momentum to beat Lincoln Southwest 31-14 last night at Seacrest Field.  The Silver Hawks got an early interception that set up a 15-yard drive and a 3-yard touchdown run from Noah Lazaro.  But on the ensuing kickoff, Kearney's Tyler Gillen had a 93-yard return for a touchdown that tied the game at 7.  Kearney took the lead late in the 3rd quarter on a 17-yard field goal, but on the next Bearcat drive Tyler Dahlke caught a pass for a 77-yard scoring strike.  The Bearcats added two more touchdowns before Southwest got a late touchdown with a little more than a minute left from Tyler Bordeaux.  Southwest, who had 295 total yards, falls to 1-2.
