Teen Faces Several Charges, Following Costly Joyride

LINCOLN -- A 14 year old is in BIG trouble after a joy ride late Tuesday night that damaged a couple of mailboxes, at least two parked cars and a newly opened dental office.  Police Capt. Michon Morrow tells KFOR NEWS while an officer was working the damaged mailbox call in the 1200 block of SW10th, he heard tires squealing, and the sound of vehicles being hit...the witness pointed to a passing Ford Explorer as the vehicle that hit the mailboxes.  The officer followed the SUV, which by now had a flat front tire, to SW 12th and West A where the 14 year old jumped from the moving vehicle, which went into a ditch and into Cottington Dental.  The teen was found hiding under a car in the 1300 block of West Washington.  Tracing the joy ride back, police have discovered the teen allegedly damaged property at a Casey's General Store on West A Street and two parked cars at 9th and West C Street.  The 14 year old is at the Youth Detention Center, facing willful wreckless driving, fleeing to avoid arrest, unauthorized use of a vehicle and hit and run.  Capt. Morrow says the SUV belonged to the boy's guardian.
