City Council Approves Task Force With FBI, OPD

LINCOLN -- The Lincoln City Council has passed a memorandum of understanding between the FBI, the Omaha Police Department and the Lincoln Police's called the "Greater Omaha Safe Streets Task Force".  Lincoln Police Chief Jim Peschong  told the council on Monday that the program allows for a slight increase in funding with the Omaha FBI, to help investigate crimes of interest in Omaha and Lincoln.  The agreement between the two police forces and the FBI allows for greater collaboration in the past.  It passed the City Council on a 7-0 vote, but some council members expressed disappointment in the program name.
