Boys State Basketball Tournament Opens Thursday



LINCOLN -- The 2013 Nebraska Boys State High School Basketball Championships open Thursday with 24 first round games. We'll broadcast three of them on KFOR 1240. Shortly before 2 p.m., Jeff Motz will have the play by play of the Lincoln Christian-Wahoo Class C-1 contest....Following that, around 3:40 p.m., Dick Janda will broadcast the Class A matchup between Lincoln Southeast and Papillion-LaVista. We'll also follow Waverly throughout the State Class B tournament, beginning with the Vikings' first round game against Gretna. Chris Schmidt will broadcast that 8:45 p.m. game on KFOR, and there will also be score updates for all the state tournament games throughout the day and night.  The boys tournament was first event played at the Devaney Center on March 11, 1976 and closes the 37-year-old facility for basketball events this weekend.
