A recent parolee is back in trouble, suspected of stealing several cars in Lancaster and Seward Counties and creating a major disturbance at his ex-girlfriend’s home. Around 9:50 p.m. Sunday, Lancaster County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a complaint at 19000 North 14th that the resident’s ex-boyfriend was banging on doors and kicking at windows trying to get inside. Denied, the suspect, 46-year-old David Ostermeier, drove a 2003 GMC Envoy SUV though the east side of the garage, doing $3,000 damage to the structure and $800 to the vehicle. While Ostermeier was distracted, authorities say the woman, her mother, uncle and boyfriend escaped the house safely. Shortly after, Ostermeier was suspected of stealing a 1990 GMC farm truck just south of the disturbance; it was recovered about 13 miles away. Ostermeier was arrested early Monday morning in Seward County, asleep in another allegedly stolen vehicle. Ostermeier faces charges in Seward County as well as an arrest warrant in Lancaster County for felony criminal mischief, theft by receiving stolen property and disturbing the peace.
