RALSTON -- Three Lincoln teams are participating in this weekend's Nebraska Prep Classic basketball showcase at the brand new Ralston Arena in Ralston. Among the teams playing Saturday is Lincoln Southwest, who will face Omaha Creighton Prep at 4:45pm. Size and quickness in favor of the Silver Hawks may be the difference according to Prep head coach Josh Luedtke. Other games on Saturday feature the Lincoln Northeast boys in a Class A vs. Class B match up with Gretna at 3:15pm, and Lincoln Pius X opens up the Saturday session against Ralston at 1:45pm. Omaha promoter Jim Huffman says this is a great opportunity to expose high school basketball in Nebraska. Two out of state schools, Sioux City (Iowa) Heelan and Topeka (Kansas) Highland Park, are participating in the Prep Classic. The Heelan girls play Bellevue West at 6:15pm Saturday, while the Heelan boys play Class A third-ranked Papillion-LaVista at 7:45pm. Highland Park will face the Bellevue West boys to conclude the session at 9:15pm. Friday's schedule features Papillion-LaVista South girls against Millard North at 4pm, followed by the Omaha Benson girls against Gretna at 5:30pm. For the first time since 1975, Omaha Benson will play Boys Town at 7pm and Papillion-LaVista South boys play Millard North at 8:30pm Friday. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for students. If you purchase tickets through the participating schools or at the arena ticket booths in advance, you can get a voucher for a free hot dog, chips and drink at the consession stands inside Ralston Arena.
