Dick Janda began his career in Ord, Nebraska. During his high school years, at Ord High School, Dick enjoyed participating in sports and worked as an announcer for KNLV-Radio. He then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he graduated with a journalism degree in broadcasting.After graduating from UNL, Dick became sports director for KRLN Radio in Canon City, Colorado. He left Colorado to become the play by play announcer for the Savannah Braves minor league baseball team in Savannah, Georgia. Upon returning to Lincoln, Dick worked as a news reporter, sports anchor and booth announcer at KOLN before becoming the sports director at KOLN in 1980. In the 1990's, Dick worked for 8 1/2 years as a news and sports announcer at KFOR-Radio in Lincoln.
In 2002, Dick became a weekend news anchor-reporter at KLKN-TV in Lincoln, before working for News Link, a Lincoln company which produces newsletters for businesses and organizations across the country. In August of 2008, Dick returned to KOLN-TV as the news department assignment editor. He now spends his professional time as the KFOR Sports Director.
Lincoln has been home to Dick, his wife, Kathy, and their family, for more than thirty years. In his spare time, Dick enjoys fishing, bike riding on the miles of Lincoln trails. He also enjoys taping and watching old TV programs.
