As expected, Lincoln businessman Mark Whitehead is running for the at-large seat on the City Council vacated by Adam Hornung. Whitehead was Hornung's choice to replace him, but Hornung's term expires in the spring and Mayor Beutler didn't want someone replacing Hornung who would have an unfair advantage running in the spring election. Former council member Lloyd Hinkley is filling Hornung's term until spring. Whitehead says Lincoln can do more to help businesses grow and create jobs, as well as attracting new businesses.
