Lincoln Police are investigating an auto theft and vandalism that occurred early Wednesday morning. Officer Katie Flood said that witnesses in the 1800 block of Shooting Star saw a vehicle run over several mailboxes before hitting a tree. Flood said that the unknown male ran northbound after exiting the vehicle. He is described as 5'8, with a thin build. Police contacted the registered owner and found out that the vehicle, a silver 2000 Ford Expedition, had been stolen from his garage while the keys still in the ignition. Around $7,500 of damage were recorded from the mailboxes and the vehicle. While in the area, officers also discovered seven windows to vehicles were damaged. Flood said that police believe all of these incidents are related.
