After 4 years on the City Council, Gene Carroll would like 4 more. In a prepared statement, Carroll said he's proud of tough choices made over the last 4 years which have grown Lincoln into a top ranked community. Carroll's at-large seat is one of 3 open in the spring. Carroll is the council representative on the West Haymarket Arena Joint Public Agency overseeing construction of the Pinnacle Bank Arena. DiAnna Schimek, who was appointed in October to fill Jayne Snyder's seat after she left for health reasons, is also up for re-election. At the time she was appointed, Schimek said she intended to run in 2013. She hasn't announced whether that is still her intention. The other at-large seat up for grabs belonged to Adam Hornung, but he gave it up last month after taking a different job, so the mayor's office and City Council are in the process of selecting a replacement. 4 finalists are in the running. The council votes on Monday.Pictured: Lincoln City Council Member Gene Carroll
