Nebraska needs more doctors. A University of Nebraska Medical Study finds the number of primary care physicians is 30% lower than previously reported; rural areas are hit the hardest. Nebraska has 11 rural counties without a single primary care physician. There are just over 1,400 primary care doctors in Nebraska. It's anticipated that the state will need almost 1,700 doctors to meet increased demand as a result of health care reform in 2014.
