The nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender advocacy group has given Lincoln a failing grade; 37 out of 100. The Human Rights Campaign pointed out that Lincoln has no laws protecting people on the basis of their sexual orientation and no laws recognizing civil unions. Nebraska WatchDog reported that the advocacy group said the only reason Lincoln scored any points at all is because it has a Human Rights Commission and the Police Department has a LGBT liaison or task force and reports hate crime statistics to the FBI.
