Be Wary Of "Winning" Texts

Text messages offering holiday deals or claiming that you’ve won gift cards from major retailers continue to circulate. Jim Hegerty of the Better Business Bureau in Nebraska spoke to Dave and Cathy on the 1240 KFOR-AM Morning Show today (Tuesday) and said that there are instructions to go to a website and enter a log-in number to get a $1,000 gift card. Hegerty said that the text also requires you to give personal information to get the card, which he adds is something totally against the principles of the BBB and law enforcement agencies. Hegerty said that major retailers are NOT officially tied in to this text message. He suggested using common sense and simply ignoring the messages. If you continue to receive them, you are urged to contact the BBB.
