Lincoln Man Arrested For Suspected DUI After Crash

A 28-year-old Lincoln man faces a number of charges after allegedly stealing his friend's work van and crashing it on Northwest 48th Street, just north of Interstate 80 early Sunday morning. Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood said that the van was unoccupied when investigators showed up. However, LCSO deputies found Matthew Hammers drunk at a nearby truck stop, bleeding from the head with the keys to the van in his pocket. Hammers was arrested for 4th offense DUI, refusing a chemical test, driving on a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless driving. He also was arrested for felony theft.
