It only took 40 minutes to give away 200 frozen turkeys to needy people at the Salvation Army on North 27th Street yesterday (Monday). Some people waited in line for hours expecting a turkey to feed their family for Thanksgiving. Last year, the Salvation Army handed out 400 turkeys over 3 days, but the need is much greater this year. Capt. Jamie Pennington of the Salvation Army is confident that good-hearted people will donate more frozen turkeys or money so that more can be purchased.
