Haven't been able to buy a Hostess Twinkie at the North 48th Street Wonder Bread Bakery Outlet since Friday. The shelves are nearly bare. Friday was the day the maker of the tasty cream-filled golden spongecake treats decided it could no longer make it through bankruptcy restructuring, burdened with debt, rising labor costs, management turmoil and the changing tastes of America. An employee at the North 48th store was very emotional, knowing she was about to lose her job, but other companies are reportedly interested in bidding for at least pieces of Hostess.
