Flood To Run For Governor?

An announcement is expected tonight (Monday) from outgoing Speaker of the Legislature Mike Flood that he's planning to run for governor. The World-Herald reported that Flood is planning to make a "special announcement" this evening (Monday) at a convention center in his hometown of Norfolk. Since June, Flood has toured the state and talked with Nebraskans as he has considered a possible run for governor. During the tour, Flood said that the state needs to invest in infrastructure, schools and the state's farmers. Flood is a respected Republican lawmaker who helped broker compromises on difficult issues while leading the Legislature, but term limits are forcing him to leave office. Besides Flood, Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy has expressed interest in running for Republican Governor Dave Heineman's job in 2014. The governor cannot run again because of term limits.
