Voter Turnout Lower Than Expected

Voter turnout Tuesday wasn't as high as expected. Secretary of State John Gale had predicted a 71% voter turnout. It ended up being 67%. Thurston County had the poorest showing at 46%; it went to Democratic Senate candidate Bob Kerrey. Sioux County had the biggest voter turnout at 80%. Senator-elect Deb Fischer won that county and 87 others to beat Kerrey by about 82,000 votes.
