Former Nebraska Attorney General Paul Douglas has died at the age of 85. Douglas will forever be linked with the collapse of Commonwealth in Lincoln. Douglas left office in 1984 after being convicted of perjury; Commonwealth closed on November 1st, 1984. 4 months later, the Legislature impeached Douglas on allegations that he lied to and failed to cooperate with special prosecutors. The perjury charge was overturned and his impeachment was acquitted, but the Nebraska Supreme Court suspended Douglas' law license. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 950 N. 63rd St.
