Union College offers a major in "International Search and Rescue" and it's sending ten students majoring in that area, accompanied by two instructors to the East Coast.  Students in that area of study are certified as emergency medical technicians during their first year, then learn various rescue techniques and outdoor survival during the remainder of their education.  The Union College team is heading for Pennsylvania, where they expected to help in water rescues.
