Omaha's mayor wants furloughs to end for violent inmates. Jim Suttle wants the City Council to make recommendations for a bill when the Legislature convenes in January. Suttle said he's concerned because of recent high-profile incidents involving furloughed inmates. A corrective action will be handed to lawmakers by December 6th. Omaha Senator Brad Ashford, who chairs the Legislature's Judiciary Committee and is running for mayor of Omaha, said he wants to avoid a knee-jerk reaction based on individual, high-profile cases.
