Businesses, Organizations Must Remit Unclaimed Property by November

The deadline for Nebraska businesses and organizations remitting unclaimed property to the state is approaching. Unclaimed property reports also should be in by Nov. 1. The annual report covers the fiscal year that ended June 30. Reports may be submitted on a CD to the Treasurer's Unclaimed Property Division or electronically to the treasurer's website. State law requires a business or organization to file a report with the Unclaimed Property Division if the total value of the unclaimed property is greater than $10. Unclaimed property includes health claim payments, dividends, life insurance proceeds, stocks, safety deposit boxes and unused gift certificates. A reporting form is available on the Treasurer's website at www.treasurer.org.
