Eichorst Officially Named Osborne Successor

Shawn Eichorst has been officially introduced as the new athletic director to replace Tom Osborne next year at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  Eichorst was introduced to the media today (Tuesday) by Chancellor Harvey Perlman.
Eichorst will serve as special assistant to the chancellor until Tom Osborne retires January 1st. Osborne will also stay on for another six months as athletic director emeritus to help with the transition.
Eichorst hails from Wisconsin and started his career as an athletic director at Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he also played football in the late 1980's. The UW-Whitewater football coach, both when Eichorst played and became athletic director there, was Bob Berezowitz who was quoted as saying he knew Eichorst would go far.
Eichorst comes to Nebraska after serving as athletic director at the University of Miami for the past year and a half. Prior to that, Eichorst worked in the athletic departments at both the Universities of Wisconsin and South Carolina.
