The announcement from Lincoln's Center for People in Need sounds encouraging; 1,100 fewer people in Lancaster County are waking up this morning (Thursday) in poverty compared to a year ago. But the number is deceiving. The number of people living in EXTREME poverty is up by more than 3,000, a 19% increase over last year. There are also fewer married couple families in poverty, but there has been a shockingly large increase in the number of male-only led families.
