In a small Iowa community an hour and twenty minutes drive from Lincoln, there is talk this morning (Friday) of a new nuclear power plant being built. The World Herald reports that 40 landowners and residents of Thurman, Iowa have received invitations to a meeting today (Friday) hosted by MidAmerican Energy, a company the Iowa legislature directed to complete a 3-year study on construction of nuclear facilities in the state. MidAmerican Energy plans to take soil samples to see if land is suitable for a nuclear power plant.
