DOC Adjusts Furlough Policy After Fatal Weekend Shooting
The Department of Corrections is adjusting its furlough notification policy following the shooting of an Omaha man on release from Lincoln Community Corrections. The Omaha World Herald reports that Corrections Director Robert Houston is ordering that anytime a prisoner is released on furlough in an area, law enforcement agencies in those areas are notified, but those agencies have to request the notification. It is not yet clear whether Lincoln Police Chief, Jim Peshong, has requested the notification.
