You will not pay a penny in taxes to rebuild the Lincoln Public Schools new District Office at 59th and O. The Lincoln Board of Education is getting almost $24 million of insurance money, not only to pay for the new building, but everything in it; from desks to office supplies. Travelers Insurance has the bulk of the settlement totaling nearly $15 million. LPS is also getting millions more by selling land to the east of the new district headquarters where a Whole Foods Market will go in. LPS hopes to move in to its new offices by July of next year. The old building was destroyed by an arson fire in May of last year.
