LINCOLN -- Deputies have a 26-year-old Lincoln man in jail, after he allegedly tried to rob an 84-year-old woman at gunpoint in her home late Friday afternoon near 120th and Van Dorn. Lancaster County Chief Deputy Sheriff Jeff Bliemeister says the victim's 86-year-old husband came home just in time for Wellington Carngbe to escape. However, an alert neighbor saw Carngbe and provided some help for investigators by giving a license plate number of the vehicle he was driving. Carngbe was spotted and pulled over Saturday night near Evergreen Drive and "A" Street where he was arrested for robbery. Bliemeister says there were items found in Carngbe's vehicle that were likely taken from an August 21st burglary in the 3000 block of South 98th Street. Carngbe has not been arrested and charged with that crime yet, but the investigation continues to see whether or not he acted alone. Bliemeister says they believe two different vehicles may have been used in these thefts.
