Mandatory watering restricts are working. Mayor Beutler's goal is to have daily use stay below 60 million gallons a day. On Thursday when the mayor made the mandatory compliance announcement, water used that day totaled 63 1/2 million gallons. On Friday, the day after the announcement, use fell to 61 million gallons, but Saturday use totaled just under 59 million gallons and Sunday use was just over 58 million gallons. It's helped to have cooler weather. Highs since Friday have been in the low 80's compared to the average high of 91 degrees last week. It's Tuesday...if your address ends in an ODD number, go ahead and water outdoors. Yesterday (Monday) was a no watering day, prompting more than 170 complaint calls to police saying people or businesses were violating the mandatory water restriction ordinance.
