LINCOLN -- People living at 1022 Daybreak Circle are thankful to have escaped harm, after a fire started on the back deck of their duplex late Wednesday afternoon. Lincoln Firefighters were called to the home just southeast of 84th and Holdrege around 5:50pm, where they found the deck on fire. Captain Eric Jones tells KFOR News at the scene the fire extended into the attic. After a quick knock down on the outside of the duplex, crews put out what little fire there was in the attic before it could spread to the rest of the home. Jones says there were a couple of dogs that were saved and nothing was damaged in the adjacent duplex. The cause of the fire and damage estimates remain under investigation. The family living the duplex where the fire originated will have to be temporarily relocated.
