Four Fire Departments Fight Blaze In Southeast Nebraska

Four fire departments combined forces to put out a blaze that blackened 50 acres of land in southeast Nebraska.   The blaze began Monday afternoon seven miles south of Dorchester.  Fire Chief Todd Axline says the fire began after a bearing overheated on a hay baler.   Firefighters were dispatched about 3:45 p.m., and they left the scene just before 9 p.m. Farmers used their equipment to disk around the fire perimeter to keep it from spreading.   Two firefighters were taken to Crete Area Medical Center for treatment and soon were released.   No damage to buildings was reported.
