911 Service Restored To Cricket Cellular Customers

LINCOLN -- Those of you who have Cricket cell phone service are now able to make 911 emergency calls without having to be rerouted to Kansas City. That was the case for Lincoln and Omaha customers for much of Tuesday morning, until Cricket officials found the problem and fixed it. Lincoln 911 communications coordinator Julie Righter tells KFOR News they routinely transfer calls back and forth between 911 centers if they get misrouted, which is part of their normal operating procedures. She says they're all public entities and it's easy to find them, but getting calls rerouted from Kansas City is pretty far out of their realm. Righter tells KFOR News she was first notified about the outage around 3:30am Tuesday. The problem was fixed shortly after 10am.
